This popular furniture Upholstery Workshop at Kayes Textiles will give you an introduction to upholstery techniques, to revive tired furniture with beautiful fabrics.
Our very talented and experienced Upholsterer Simon will guide you through the upholstery process. You can be a complete beginner to do this Workshop and need no previous experience.
You’ll need to bring along one small, portable piece of furniture to upholster; a dining chair, ottoman or stool are all perfect and an Upholstery Staple Gun.
Please don't bring anything too large as we have limited time and want you to get as much done as possible in your Introduction to Upholstery Workshop! Our sewing studio is located up a set of stairs so this also limits the size of your project!
We have a selection of upholstery fabric in our shop and wadding for padding. If you require anything from our shop on the day of the workshop you will be entitled to a 10% discount. Please come in a little earlier to choose your fabric as this will save wasting valuable workshop time. We strongly advise you to strip down your furniture of existing fabric prior to the workshop to maximise your time here and ensure your best chance of finishing your project. (Please bring the old fabric with you to use as a pattern.)
Please be aware that if your project is a little larger not all people finish on the day. Please email us a photo of the item to check that it will be ok if you are unsure.
It is advisable to bring your own staple gun and spare staples. This is not a sewing class.
Places are limited so if you find this class is sold out, please contact us and give us your details and we will add you to the list for the next Workshop.
